Horsemanship Class 1 For Pre-Teens

This past Saturday, April 19th, we had our first Horsemanship Class for Pre-Teens. We were delighted to welcome 3 new Blue Sky Farm students! They enjoyed a 2 hour experiential learning session that was chock-full of hands-on activities with the horses.

We started the class with learning how to groom a horse and how to hand walk Nutella and Fluff - our mini team - in the arena. The kids enjoyed playing Follow the Leader and creating fun courses for their fellow students to walk the horses around.

Afterwards, we moved to the barn to spend some time with two of our seasoned lessons horses, Elliot and Cooper. The kids learned how to brush Cooper before learning the parts of the horse and how to wrap a horse's hoof. They finished their first session practicing polo wrapping Elliot’s legs.

Thanks  to our wonderful Blue Sky Farm volunteers who came out to support each student, ensuring that everyone was able to learn at a pace that felt comfortable for them.

We apologize for not having more pictures of this fun event. Sometimes our instructor is so engaged with the students that she forgets to take pictures!
